Product Description Part 1 - Electricity

In Chapter 1, you will be challenged to get a lightbulb to light using only a single AA battery and a wire. This experiment will teach you about the fundamental concept of a circuit and how it is formed.

Chapters 2 and 8 guide you through the construction of Series Circuits and Parallel Circuits, using batteries, lightbulbs, switches, and wires. By building these circuits, you will learn about the differences between them, the basic rules they follow, and their real-world applications in physics.

Chapters 3 and 7 introduce you to using an ammeter and a voltmeter. You will learn how to measure the current in a circuit and the voltage drop across a portion of a circuit, as well as how to read the measurements, draw a circuit diagram, and understand what a short circuit is.

Chapters 5, 6, 9, and 10 focus on Voltage, Current, and Resistance. You will conduct experiments, record results, and create diagrams to investigate the mathematical relationships between voltage and current, and between resistance and current. These chapters culminate in the introduction of Ohm's law and a method to measure an unknown resistance using the Current-Voltage method.

Part 2 - Magnetism

Chapter 11 explores the general properties of magnets. You will learn how a magnet can attract smaller metal pieces when it touches a nail, and how the nail itself becomes a temporary magnet. You will also discover the difference between soft iron, which loses its magnetism when the magnet is removed, and permanent magnets.

In Chapter 16, you will build a hand-crank generator using an electric motor and learn about the working principle of electric generators, which convert mechanical energy to electrical energy.

Chapter 17 guides you through the process of creating a battery using fruits, and you will learn about the principle of the wet cell battery, where the difference in reactivity between zinc and copper allows for the flow of electrons and the generation of current.

Finally, in Chapter 18, you will construct an electric bell using batteries and a solenoid. You will learn the mechanics of the original ringing bell, where the flow of current magnetizes the soft iron core, attracting the armature and causing the hammer to hit the gong, before the process repeats.

This science kit is a great gift for boys and girls, suitable for high school students (Grade 10-12) to enhance their electricity and magnetism lessons, as well as for junior students (Grade 7-9) to explore and develop an interest in physics science. The clearly illustrated manual encourages critical thinking and provides a hands-on learning experience through 18 interesting projects, including a Fruit Battery, Electric Bell Making, and Hand Crank Generator.
